WOMEN'S SAFETY : AN ISSUE UNSOLVED
Women's safety. The word itself is just a dream or the biggest nightmare in a country like India which tops the list for the " WORLD'S MOST UNSAFE PLACE FOR WOMEN". This is one issue which does not need much explanations. If we check the reports of India, in 2015, there were over 34600 rape cases and yet, as we can see, rape conviction rates continue to remain low. Since the laws were strengthened, there has been a 39 per cent increase in rape complaints reported to the police, according to Human Rights Watch, which implies that the new laws have had some positive effect. Women – both adults and minors – are getting raped and reports are coming in from all quarters of the country. Yet, there has not been any significant improvement regarding women’s security and safety.
